In case you haven't noticed, I made changes to the website and blog pages. I went with a new website host and so far, I like it a lot more.

Anyway, I finally had some time to work on the planter a bit more. I had hoped to get it off the pallet so I could move it around more easily, but I ran out of time. I was able to get some of the unwanted/un-needed accessories removed. This planter came with nearly every option you could get installed from John Deere back in the day. It had the fertilizer hoppers, check row cable and even a pesticide applicator. Well, the fertilizer hoppers were not in the best shape. They could easily be repaired, but I didn't want to put in that much effort. The pesticide applicator was completely locked up and had not been working in what appears to be a very long time. The check row cable and associated bits were something I was not going to use at all, so all of that stuff was removed.

This gave me a better view of the actual workings of the planter and lets me see what is really there and if it will work as-is or if I need to find/fabricate some parts. So far, it looks like it is all good to go, other than the marker arms maybe not working as they should. I have a parts and operation manual for this planter, so I will dig in further to see what may be needed. Once I finally get it off the pallet and can move it around, I can really see what needs to be addressed. More to come!
